January 17, 1780, letter from Col. Richard Parker in Augusta, Ga., to Maj. Gen. Lincoln, who was in Charleston preparing for the impending attack of Sir Henry Clinton and the British fleet, reporting that Indians had arrived in Savannah "with an intention of distressing this country."

Virginia Revolutionary War colonel who died May 8, 1780, of wounds received during the siege of Charleston. In response to the expansion of the Continental Army the number of staff was increased and reorganized in 1776. Changes included the creation of a new unit to supplement George Washington's personal staff.
